Cleburne, Texas - Virginia Louise Benson, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026.

Born on July 30, 1942, in Nashville, Tennessee, Virginia spent most of her life in Cleburne, Texas. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved her church family. One of her greatest joys was hearing her brother, Reverend Charles Payne, preaching the Sunday services.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Benson; her parents, Gene and Mary Payne; and her brothers, Roy Payne, Richard Payne, and Homer Payne.

She leaves behind: her sons, Charles Benson and wife Melanie of Rio Vista, Texas; Larry Benson of Cleburne, Texas; Cary Benson and wife Shirley of Grand Lake, Oklahoma; Devin Benson and wife Dana of Alvarado, Texas; and her daughter, Meredith Benson of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert Payne of Burleson, Texas; Jerry Payne of Whitney, Texas; and Reverend Charles Payne of Cleburne, Texas.

Virginia is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on June 1, 2026 at 1:30. Graveside services will follow immediately after at Bethany Rest Cemetery.
