Valice Lee Vaughan
Valice Lee Vaughan, 79, a long-time resident of Arcadia Park of Dallas, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones.
Valice was born in Chilton, Texas, on Jan. 31, 1940, to Marvin Lee and Sarah Teresa Elizabeth (Lehman) Vaughan. He grew up as a Texas Farm Boy near Waco, where he and his family were share croppers, working the fields, picking cotton and farming other crops in the Hot Texas Sun. He received a license to preach the Gospel from Parker Baptist Church of Grandview in 1957. He spoke of the hardships of changing schools frequently because of the seasonal jobs his family worked, however he graduated from Kopperl High School in 1958. Valice went on to attend Texas Barber School and received his license. He made a lifelong career as a barber and shop owner in Dallas, which afforded him a never-ending line of jokes that he collected over the years and loved to share.
He is survived by his children, Wes Vaughan and wife, Marie, of Phoenix, Samuel Kirk Vaughan of Dallas, Stephanie (Vaughan) Garland and husband, Steve, of Garland, and LaVonne Clark and husband Kevin, of Garland; grandchildren, Cayla and Colby Vaughan, Steven and Joey Headen and Michael and Jennifer Pullen; great-granddaughter, Brooke; sister-in-law, LaBarbara (Anders) Vaughan Woolsey; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin and mother, Sarah; wife, Sammie; wife, Dorothy; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene (Red) and Jean (Gloshen) Vaughan; brother, Ernest Vaughan; and nephews, Danny and Clay Vaughan.
