College Station, Texas - Roy Dean Bilberry went to be with the Lord and his wife, Carolyn, on October 11, 2025. He passed peacefully at his home in College Station, Texas surrounded by the love of his family. Roy was a member of the Church of Christ for over 75 years, most recently at the Southside Church of Christ in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel in Cleburne, Texas with burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery, also in Cleburne. Visitation will be held the same day at Rosser Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Roy was born to Nezzie "Sally" Bradshaw Bilberry and Roy Van Bilberry near Cleburne, Texas on March 21, 1935. He attended Cleburne High School where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Marie Rowland. They were married June 26, 1953 and lived in Ft. Worth. They had two sons, Bob and Greg.
The family moved to Graham, Texas in 1963 when Roy bought The Graham News. He was very active in the community serving in the Jaycees, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, coaching Little League Baseball, and raising his family in a close-knit, small town community. In 1975 they moved back to the Ft. Worth-Cleburne area. He owned newspapers, printing companies, magazines, traveling art sales, and an art gallery before retiring in 2013.
He moved to College Station in 2022 to live with his son Bob and wife Sherry on a small lake.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Carolyn of 66 years, brother John Horton, and granddaughter Shelly Butcher.
Roy is survived by his son, Bob Bilberry and wife Sherry; son, Greg Bilberry and wife Camilla Madden; sisters, Judith Newkirk and Margaret Davis and husband Gregg Davis; grandchildren, Robert Bilberry Jr and wife Kristina Higgins; Brennan Bilberry and partner Tarak Shah; Katie Cantu and husband Andy; Erica Allen; Brenda Umfleet and husband Steve; Kristy Stachmus and husband Jeff; many great-grandchildren including Evie and Emerson Bilberry; Isla and Elliot Cantu; Michael Dennis; Zachary, Ryan and Devin Allen; Joy Stachmus; Gillian McLaughlin and several others. Also, multiple great-great grands.
