Rose Mary Gates Carter Obituary
Rose Mary Gates Carter, born to Albert and Melissa Bentley Gates on April 2, 1938 in Pass Christian, MS, passed peacefully in December 2024 in Cleburne, TX. After high school, Rose opened her own beauty shop in Pass Christian. She later retired from Rangaire Manufacturing after more than 15 years of service.
Rose is survived by her daughter Cecile Gates, her son Bruce Carter, her granddaughter Treva Ross, grandson Eric Carter, brother Walter Gates, sister Carolyn Gates Ashley, and brother-in-law Willie Brown, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband Nathaniel Carter and her brother Percy Gates.
We will miss her immense intellect, witty nature, and her remarkable sense of personal style. Rose enjoyed debating politics, writing poems and short stories, sewing, crocheting, and visits from her grandchildren.
Rose's family is paying their respects privately. Please keep us in your prayers.
