Dawn Letson, a retired Archivist of Rare Manuscripts for TWU and formerly SMU passed away on Thursday Sept 29th in Denton Tx. She was beloved as a daughter, sister, aunt, friend and teacher.
Dawn was born in Ft. Worth Tx, a graduate of Cleburne High School, attended TWU and received a Masters from Brigham Young University. She was a world traveler including mission trip to South America, dive trips to Mexico and Belize, River boat trips in Europe, historical trips to Egypt, and hunting down family in England.
She had a fulfilling career at SMU and then TWU particularly working with the WASPS, the WWII Women Air Force Service Pilots.
Memorials: TWU Foundation in memo please put - Dawn E. Letson Memorial. This money will be used specifically to complete Dawn's work with WASPS.
A Memorial service to celebrate the life of this amazing woman, will be held Oct. 15th, 10 am, at LDS chapel, 1801 Malone St. Denton, TX.
Survivors: Brother Mike Letson and wife Bessie, Sisters Kay Scarlett and husband Mike, Martha Wade and husband Bruce, Ruth Smith and husband Brian. Nephews Madison Wade and wife Leslie and Samuel Scarlett. Niece Sarah Scarlett.
