Josephine's Story

Josephine VanCise, daughter of Levi Jason and Felipa Garza VanCise, passed away on March 4, 2017 in Cleburne, TX.
She was preceded in death by her lifelong companion, Royce Donald Tex Gregory, brothers Frank and Robert VanCise, and sister Emma Seager. She is survived by sisters Lillian Mire, Anne Westrup and Nancy VanCise, 19 nieces/nephews, 42 great nieces/nephew, 31 great-great nieces/nephews, and 15 great great-great nieces/nephews.
She was born in Mercedes, TX in 1928 and was a longtime resident of Brownsville and Harlingen. She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1986 after 40 years of service. While she never married, her life was dedicated to her family. She was an independent woman whose strong work ethic, sacrifice and love for family, quiet strength, dignity, and perseverance inspired and shaped many. She will be laid to rest at noon on Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Restlawn Memorial Park, La Feria, TX .
