Joel Lamar Johnson, age 38, died peacefully in his sleep on September 6, 2016 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on October 7, 1977, and was raised in the Houston area.
He was baptized into Christ at age 8 at Woodforest Presbyterian Church in Channelview, Texas. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Baytown, Texas, in May of 1996. He married Loretta Spencer in Paris, Kentucky on November 8, 2008. He was an IT and production specialist for Patti DeWitt, Inc., in Cedar Creek, Texas.
Joel is proceeded in death by his sister, Cecelia Johnson, and grandfather, Dan Darnell. He is survived by his mother, Patti DeWitt Folkerts, and stepfather, Ronald Folkerts, of Cedar Creek, Texas; his father, Stephen Johnson, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one brother, Matthew Johnson, and grandmothers, Pat Cecelia Darnell and Ingrid Woodward, all of Hot Springs; grandfather Lyndon DeWitt of Cleburne, as well as numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Joel was a devoted son, loving grandson, and a loyal friend. His smile and keen sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. Joel loved all of Gods living creatures, especially dachshunds.
Services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 4:00 PM at DeGray Lake Lodge in Bismarck, Arkansas. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to:
