Gay Hopper, 87, a life long resident of Grandview and Alvarado passed away peacefully on December 15, 2016. Gay was born in Post, (Garza County) Texas to John and Gussie (Hill) Hopper. Mr. Hopper's passion in life was farming. He loved to plant things, vegetable, flowers — anything that would grow. Gay served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Iowa. Gay was a devoted husband and a loving and caring father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Tim Hopper and wife Pamela; a daughter, Lou Ann Patterson and husband James; grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph and Haleigh Hopper, Jacob and Noah Patterson and a great grandchild, Samuel Hopper. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.
A celebration of Gay's life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 17, 2016 in the chapel of Clayton Kay Vaughan's Funeral Home, located at 200 E. Patton, Alvarado, Texas with Rev. Mike Lehnhardt officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton Kay Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado.
