Etta Louise Sloan Churman went home to be with her Savior on Sat., Dec. 31, 2016 in Ft. Worth. She was born June 3, 1926 in San Antonio to Carl Cobb and Alberta Tumey Sloan. She spent most of her life in the Ft. Worth area. As a young woman, she worked for Western Union and, as a result, met many interesting people during the war years, including her future husband. She married Andrew Churman in 1945 in Ft. Worth and raised four children before going back to work at Western Union. She was later employed by the Spinks Airport managing the FFA Flight School and was instrumental in coordinating and organizing air shows at both Spinks and Alliance Airports. Throughout her career she never met a stranger and was able to forge friendships with local celebrities and students from other nations who attended her flight schools.
Louise taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School while her kids were young, but later taught a Ladies Sunday School Class at First Baptist Godley. She loved her "girls" and devoted many hours in preparation of each class. She also did book reviews for various missionary groups throughout her lifetime. Her belief in God and the Saving Grace of Jesus Christ is her legacy to her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.
Survivors include her three children, Andy Churman and wife Frances of Godley, Jean Beach and husband Allen of Burleson and Earl Churman and wife Gail of Rainbow; daughter-in-law, Lari Churman Waites; grandchildren, Regina Hardy, Renda Williams and husband Roy, Sloan Churman and wife Sarah, Kile Spelz and husband Zack, Elijah Featherston and fiancée Erika, Reed Churman and wife Whitnae, and Alissa Bell and husband Adam; great grandchildren, Taylon, Amilya, Ryleigh, Olivia, Lodi, Elise, Alexander, Champion, Anastasia, Harper and Luke; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Andrew C. Churman in 2003; son, Ross Churman; brother, Elbert Sloan; and twin sister, Mary Weis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice House, 301 Medpark Circle, Burleson, Texas 76028.
