Bob's Story

Bob L. Elder (Cowboy), 86, of Brock passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 in Weatherford. He was born in Bridgeport, on June 2, 1930, to Edgar Lee and Buna (Yeats) Elder.
Bob was a man who wore many hats: Staff Sergeant United States Air Force, 4 years. A Texas Christian University Graduate. He was a teacher, coach, and superintendent of schools. A Founding Father of Texas Rural Water. Captain of the Johnson County Sheriff's Posse in 1965. A 40+ year member and Captain of the Parker County Sheriff's Posse in 1991. He was a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #792 for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Elder of Brock; sons, Blake Elder of Fort Worth, Wade and Linda Elder of Fort Worth; and their children; brother and sister-in-law, Ret. Colonel Kelly Purvis and Elloys Purvis of Weatherford; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and former students.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nelda and husband Bobby James Culpepper; brother and sister-in-law, Larkin H. and Romona Evans; father and mother-in-law, Herman and Elsie Evans.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Friday at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be 11 am, Saturday, December 31 at Brock Baptist Church with burial following at Brock Cemetery.
