Grandview -- Billy James Hurt, age 83, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016.
Burial: Burial will be in Grandview, Texas, at a later date. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral home. Visitation: 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Billy grew up in Hickman, Ky. He graduated high school as valedictorian and went on to receive his bachelors in math and physics from TCU. He worked as a computer programmer in the 1950s and 1960s, notably, working for the Apollo space program. He retired from Vought Aircraft Company in 1988 after over 30 years of service.
Billy was very active with his family and went on vacation to the beach every year. He loved to fish and hunt, attend gun shows and tend his garden. Billy loved basketball and TCU football. Billy is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Cora Hurt; step-father Claude Jackson; eight siblings; and son, Billy James Hurt Jr. He was loved and will be missed.
Survivors: Wife of 61 years, Mary D. Hurt; daughters, Terrie L. Hurt, Valerie H. McGregor and husband, Scott McGregor; and grandchildren, David B. and Sean C. McGregor.
